Market positive
Having maintained moderate levels of activity, the indices closed on
marginal positive grounds yesterday.
The ASPI climbed up 6.64 points or 0.26% to close the day at 2527.62
while the MPI strengthened 19.83 points or 0.63% to close the day at
3189.05.
The turnover for the day stood at Rs.371.28Million. Ceylinco
Insurance (CINS) saw a block of 0.10 million shares been traded at a
flat price of Rs.180.00, while conglomerate John Keells (JKH) too saw a
crossing on the counter with 0.26million shares changing hands at
Rs.118.00.
Colombo Fort Lands (CFLB) was the top trade volume and turnover wise
after 1.69 Million shares changed hands within a price range of Rs.21.50
and Rs.24.25 to contribute Rs.39.79 million to the day's turnover.
Other heavily traded counters volume wise include Nawaloka Hospitals
(NHL) Lanka Cement (LCEM) and Laxapana (LITE) with 1.38 million shares,
1.15million Shares and 0.97Million shares.
JKH and Sri Lanka Telecom (SLTL) followed turnover wise with Rs.35.8
million and Rs.27.4 million respectively. Price losers outnumbered price
gainers numbering 75 to 65.
Foreigners were heavier buying side bringing the net inflow for the
day to Rs.20.9 million.
