Mobitel unveils M3, 3G home project

The SLT-Mobitel stall at the Deyata Kirula exhibition introduced
Mobitel users to experience the digital lifestyle with the Mobitel 3.5G.
This concept called M3 home project was shown to participants.
Manager - Merchandising of Mobitel Buddhika Kuruppuarachchi said the
M3 home project will be completed by teaming up with various partners of
home appliance providers of the country.
The Mobitel 3.5G network system will be used to promote this concept
with the basic need of 3G phones.
'We expect the technology will bring a high level of advantage and
the people experience the technology will bring more customers, he said.
He said the stall exposed with total solution through 3.5G networks
and Wifi and other latest technology developments. The home with the
access of M3 Music Zones and switching and dimming function for lighting
control.
"An M3 mobile eye can be located in the baby room focusing on the
baby's cot acting as a baby sitter.
The mother can have an eye on the movements of the baby while
involved in some other work. M3 enabled 3G phones can get the video
calls to Mobile eye," he said.
"We expect the mobitel network users will be attracted by this
concept. Currently active mobitel users are 1.5million of the population
of the country. Most of the major cities of the countries are now
enabled with the M technology", Kuruppuarachchi said.

SLIIT offers an easy pathway to an IT degree
The Foundation certificate programme in Information Technology (FCIT),
designed by Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology offers
students, falling short of the minimum academic university entry
requirements, a unique pre-university pathway and a progression to
higher education.

This special foundation programme is designed by SLIIT in
collaboration with Edexel and Sheffield Hallam University of UK and
Australia's Curtin University of Technology.
Students who complete the Foundation Course are entitled to enter the
Diploma course in IT and thereafter transfer for a degree courses at one
of SLIIT's affiliate universities of Curtin or Sheffield Hallam.
"Foundation courses are common in many universities abroad and we want
to make it available in Sri Lanka too" said SLIIT's CEO, Professor
Lalith Gamage, speaking of this new offering.
"This unique foundation course is being offered in Sri Lanka now and
SLIIT hopes that it would be an incentive for students wanting to pursue
a higher education qualification but who do not have the formal
university entry qualifications" emphasized Professor Gamage.
"It would also encourage those wanting to pursue higher education but
who have taken a break from studies for various reasons" he continued. |
