Ministry seeks Civil Defence Committees' help to protect transformers

The Power and Energy Ministry has sought Civil Defence Committees' assistance to protect electricity transformers from acts of sabotage including terrorist attacks and ensure an uninterrupted electricity supply to consumers.

This follows the destruction of some transformers in various parts of the country due to terrorist bomb blasts in recent times. The Ministry in a press release said the public should be vigilant about strangers loitering near electricity transformers and electricity substations in urban and rural areas as a vital part of the electricity distribution grid.

The Ministry said if the public detects strangers they should alert the nearest police station immediately for timely protective action.
