Seed paddy farms in Southern Province

Plans are underway to set up seed paddy farms in the Southern Province to provide farmers with seed paddy.

The Southern Province Agriculture Department will set up 117 seed paddy farms in Galle, Matara and Hambantota districts. One hundred and ten seed farms will be set up in Hambantota and Galle districts while 67 seed paddy farms will be set up in the Galle district.

One hundred and thirty farmers have been selected from three districts while 27 Agriculture Extension Officers will engage in this task under the supervision of the Agriculture Debarment.

A spokesman told the Daily News that high breed varieties of seed paddy will be provided to farmers.
