Baduraliya SC down Chilaw Marians in thrilling game

Underdogs Baduraliya Sports Club created a major upset when they edged out Chilaw Marians SC outright by 19 runs in a thrilling SLC Premier Trophy four day inter club Tier A league tournament fixture concluded at Havelock Park yesterday.

Former Sri Lanka fast bowler Dinusha Fernando was the match winner for Baduraliya SC as he picked up five wickets for 69 to dismiss Chilaw Marians SC for 302 runs after they were set a victory target of 322.

Middle order batsman Harsha Cooray gave Chilaw Marians SC some hope of pulling off the game while stroking an elegant 114 with a dozen of boundaries. He also added a useful 119 runs for the fourth wicket together with skipper Hasantha Fernando who hit a fluent 76 with one six and seven boundaries.

However Chilaw Marians SC after a promising start lost their last five wickets for the addition of just 83 runs with pacema Dinusha Fernando causing most of the damage.

Baduraliya SC: 231 and 335

Chilaw Marians SC: 245 and 302 (H. Cooray 114, H. Fernando 76, G. Wijekoon 37, C. Malinga 2 for 5, D. Fernando 5 for 69)

Kulasekera (7/27) bowls Colts to victory

Paceman Nuwan Kulasekera celebrated his return to the Sri Lanka team by bowling Colts CC to an exciting 29 run outright victory over Bloomfield in their SLC Premier Trophy four day inter club Tier A league cricket tournament match concluded at Reid Avenue yesterday.

Kulasekera who earned a recall to the national team for the up coming tour of Australia, captured seven wickets for 27 to dismiss the home side for 157 runs after they had been set a target of 187 runs.

Colts CC: 141 and 326

Bloomfield: 281 and 157 (T. Masmulla 52, P. Jayawardena 50, N. Kulasekera 7 for 27, S. Weerakoon 2 for 29)

SSC crushes Ragama CC by 241 runs

Sachithra Senanayake took a superb five wicket haul as SSC cruised to a massive 241 runs outright victory over Ragama CC in their SLC Premier Trophy four day inter club Tier A league tournament match concluded at Maitland Place yesterday.

SSC: 302 and 328 for 6 decl

Ragama CC: 149 and 241 (D. Ranatunga 40, H. Vithana 66, D. Perera 24, K. Weeraratne 45 n.o, T. Thushara 3 for 49, S. Senanayake 5 for 50)

Tamils hold NCC to a draw

Tamil Union middle order batsman Sajith Fernando hit an unbeaten 142 to deprive NCC of a certain outright victory in their SLC Premier Trophy four day inter club Tier A league tournament match concluded at the P. Saravanamuttu Stadium yesterday.

Tamil Union after been set an improbable victory target of 409 runs, finished the day on 299 for 9 with Sajith Fernando playing the sheet anchor role. He occupied the crease for more than six hours while facing 312 deliveries and stroked 14 boundaries. Tamil Union also took first innings points after making 227 in reply to NCC’s total of 194.

NCC: 194 and 441 for 6 decl
