Permanent peace and political solution soon
Permanent peace would dawn in Sri Lanka before the end of 2008. Sri
Lanka is working towards bringing about a sustainable peace and
establish law and order in the country, Basil Rajapaksa MP and Senior
Advisor to President Mahinda Rajapaksa said.
He added that the Government was envisaging to end terrorism as soon
as possible and pave the way for peace and harmony in the country,
Rajapaksa told Asian Tribune. “Prosperity will dawn for all communities
in Sri Lanka,” he said.
He added that the Government intends to bring about a political
solution soon, adding that the Government was awaiting the final
constitutional
proposal from the All Party Representatives Committee (APRC) by the
middle of next week.
Once the APRC proposal is received, the Government would study and
announce accordingly an acceptable solution to bring about an acceptable
political solution, Rajapaksa said.
He said the three Forces Commanders have vowed to end terrorism soon
and establish law and order in all parts of the country.
Speaking about the prorogation of Parliament, he said so far a short
prorogation was expected soon. Parliament had been in session
continuously and never prorogued, he said adding that it is a
prerogative of the President to announce the date for the prorogation. -
