Few Sinhalese supporting terrorists - Premier

There are a few Sinhalese among LTTEers betraying the country, said Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka at Horana.

Premier Wickramanayaka said: “A few Sinhalese have joined hands with the LTTE terrorists in betraying our country and the people for money. I warn them to refrain from such activities.” Premier Wickramanayaka express those sentiments following the opening of a new Police Station, at Horana on Friday.

Premier said: “The war activities started will not be stopped until we achieve success and will not continue beyond 2008. We can’t handover it to the future generation. The Tamils living in the North are our friends. They are facing the consequences of LTTE atrocities and are longing for peace. Therefore they support our Security Forces who continue attacks to liberate them.

“I feel pity for our Police and Security Forces because they sacrifice their lives protecting law and order forgoing personal comforts.

The Security Forces can’t protect the country alone hence the public should extend their maximum support to them.

Under the new plan for Horana town, development activities will be carried out step by step. Horana Police Station is one of them. The bus stand and shopping complex is being constructed. A new Police Training School will be started in Ingiriya close to the Ingiriya Police Station. A Technical College will also be constructed in Horana.”

SLFP Chief Organiser Vidura Wickramanayaka said: “Our opponents question whether we can carry out the proposed Horana Town Development Project. We’ll show them how it will be done. They also underestimate the services of our war heroes. And speak against whatever activities the Government carry out.

DIG Victor Perera said the Police service started by the British for their own benefits should be transformed to serve the people. HQI Horana Police Anura Randeniya made the vote of thanks.
