Moors in shock win over CCC

Moors Sports Club made a sensational start to their SLC Premier Trophy inter club Tier A league tournament when they edged out the defending champions CCC outright by four wickets with two days to spare in a thrilling low scoring encounter concluded at Braybrooke Place yesterday.

CCC were bundled out for 147 runs in their second attempt with leg spinner Rangana Herath claiming a superb five wicket haul and to finish with a match bag of nine wickets.

Earlier Moors SC went on to build up a crucial first innings lead of 64 runs with skipper Dilhara Lokuhettige scoring a splendid 76 from just 66 deliveries with four sixes and half a dozen of boundaries.

CCC 149 and 147 (C. Kapugedera 25, T. Mendis 24, C. Kumara 27 n.o, C. Welagedera 3 for 58, A. Rideegammanagedera 2 for 44, R. Herath 5 for 31).

Half centuries from Hasantha Fernando (84) and Praneeth Jayasundera (56) helped Chilaw Marians SC take a close first innings lead of 14 runs over Baduraliya SC on the second day of their SLC Premier Trophy inter club four day league Tier A tournament match continued at Havelock Park yesterday.

Baduraliya SC 231 and 150 for 4 D. Vitharana 36, H. Wickremaratne 25, D. Perera 38 n.o, D. Hettiarachchi 3 for 54).

SSC lead by 334 runs

Opening bowler Chaminda Vidanapathirana captured four wickets for 36 to give SSC a huge first innings lead over Ragama CC on the second day of their SLC Premier Trophy four day inter club Tier A league tournament fixture continued at Maitland Place yesterday.

SSC then increased their overall lead to 334 runs by reaching 181 for 3 in their second innings with Thilan Samaraweera and Thilina Kandamby both completing half centuries.

Fine double by Dilruwan

Dilruwan Perera turned out with a fine all round performance as Colts CC after having conceded first innings points fought back well to keep their hopes alive after the second days play in their SLC Premier Trophy inter club four day Tier A league tournament match against Bloomfield continued at Reid Avenue yesterday.

The occasional spinner took a surprise four wicket haul to restrict Bloomfield to 281 runs and later hammered a magnificent 94 with two sixes and eleven fours to help Colts CC make a strong reply in their second innings.

Lanka helps Tamil Union

Wicket keeper batsman Lanka de Silva hit a pain staking half century to help Tamil Union take a first innings lead of 33 runs over NCC on the second day of their SLC Premier Trophy inter club four day Tier A league tournament match continued at the P. Saravanamuttu Stadium yesterday.

However NCC made a fine comeback while scoring a healthy 210 for 3 in their second innings with first innings hero Chanaka Wijesinghe making an unbeaten 113 from 111 deliveries with the help of one six and 17 boundaries.

Lankan CC were well placed at 158 for 1 in reply to Police SC’s first innings total of 189 runs on the opening day of their SLC Premier Trophy inter club Tier B league tournament match which began at Police Park yesterday.

Army pile up 366/9

Middle order batsman K. C. Prasad hit a super 134 not out with one six and 18 boundaries as Sri Lanka Army SC piled up a huge 366 for 9 in their first innings on the opening day of their SLC Premier Trophy inter club Tier B league tournament match played at the BRC ground yesterday.

Opener Heshan Tillekeratne hit a splendid 106 with two sixes and 13 boundaries as Sebastianites SC rattled up a massive 382 for 9 in their first innings on the opening day of their SLC Premier Trophy inter club Tier B league tournament match which commenced at Rifle Green yesterday.

Moratuwa SC were well placed at 145 for 2 in reply to Singha SC’s first innings total of 264 runs on the opening day of their SLC Premier Trophy inter club Tier B league tournament match which began at the De Soysa Stadium in Moratuwa yesterday.
