Efficient management, key to military successes - PM

Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayaka attributed the current successes of the Security Forces in their battle against LTTE terror, to efficient management by the military hierarchy without any undue interference from political or other forces.

Speaking at the passing out parade of 12 Naval officers and 808 Sailor recruits in Boosa, Galle on Thursday, the Premier said the responsibility of expediting military strategies against the enemy should be left to the experts.

“That is exactly what the Government is doing giving its fullest backing to the military in their humanitarian mission to liberate innocent civilians from the clutches of LTTE tyranny” he added.

The Premier urged the new recruits to follow in the footsteps of their acclaimed predecessors in protecting the Navy’s proud and illustrious heritage.

Commending the Navy’s contribution to the success of current military campaign the Premier said that the brave sailors had succeeded in crippling LTTE supplies and their sea operations to a large extent by their relentless efforts.

The PM said that the new recruits should take pride in the fact that they were serving for a force which set very high standards as the guardians of the nation.

He pointed out the heroic Security Forces in their current humanitarian mission had recaptured areas starting from Mavil Aru and then Thoppigala, Vakarai and recently Silawathura, thus liberating a population living under LTTE suppression.

The Premier expressed confidence that the rest of Northern civilians living under LTTE tyranny would also be liberated by the Security Forces in the near future.
