Kushal - Sohan clash in men's division one final

Unfancied Kushal Wijewickrame (MAS) and bottom Sohan Patrick (SJMS) will meet in the men's division one final of the Mercantile Tennis Tournament on Sunday at Sri Lanka Tennis Association, courts, Green Path, Colombo.

The former made a big impact by creating a sensation as he toppled the top seed player of the men's singles division one Asiri Iddamalgoda (HSBC) in straight sets 6-0,7-5. The tournament is being sponsored by the National Development Bank and will come to an end on Sunday.

Underdog Murram Fernandersz (NDB) also created an upset in the division three men's singles quarter final rounds when he beat bottom seed player Peter Wijesekara (HSBC) in straight sets. He finished both sets by the same margin 6/3,6/3.

Damith Fernando (DFCC) comfortably beat Venura Fernando (NDB) 6-1,6-1, to enter the next round of the same event while D.N. Samaranayake (NDB) got the better of his team mate Nilam Jayasinghe 6-4,6-3. G.H.G.R. Priyantha (SAM) 6/0,6/0, Angelo Patrick/ Kiruba Kumarakulasin (CMR) beat Pubudu Wijesundara/ K. Thayaparan (DFCC).
