Driving training for unemployed

The parent union of Samurdhi Recipients of Aranayake electorate in Kegalle district has made arrangements to provide driving training for over 128 youths in the area. All these youths are from those families of Samurdhi recipients.

This training programme is scheduled to be commenced soon to provide employment for the trained youths before February 2008.

According to the Samurdhi Organisation of Aranayake, the CTB depots in Mawanella and Kegalle with jointly sponsor this training programme.

Our correspondent was convinced by a spokesman of the Samurdhi Association of Aranayake paid a sum of Rs. 800,000 from Samurdhi Funds has been allocated for this purpose.

The driving licences for the youths after their training programme with also be provided.

This will enable them to find employment soon after their training procedure. Kegalle and Mawanella CTB Depots have signed an agreement to provide this training programme to the relevant youths early.

Similar programmes will be gradually launched in other areas of the country to tap the skills of youths in order to engage them in employment based on Mahinda Chintanaya.
