Gavin-Vibodha clash in first semi final of the men's singles

Top seed Gavin Perera (HSBC) will be up against Vibodha Chandrasekara (DFCC) in the first men's singles semi final while bottom seed Sunil Wijeratne also from HSBC will take on his team mate Ishantha Smarasinghe in the other semi final in the Mercantile Tennis Tournament which is being played at SLTA courts, Colombo.

The tournament is sponsored by NDB Bank. The winner of each game will enter the final.

Women's singles top seed Suwini Fernando of National Development Bank registered a splendid straight sets triumph over Janaine Rodrigo (HSBC) (6/0, 6/0) in their women's fixture worked off at the same venue.

NDB duo Suwini Fernando and Ashwini Perera will confront Manori Liyanage and Sriyani Ranatunge in the first women's doubles semi final while Dilini de Silva and Navodha Dissanayake will battle it out against Krishanjali Pansalkorala and Sherabanu Setwala in the other semi final.

Results: Men's singles- Gavin Perera beat Harshana Perera (6/1,6/1), Sunil Wijeratne beat Ishantha Samarasinghe (6/1,/6/2), I. Samarasinghe beat Damith Weerakoon (6/1,6/1), Sam Goonatilake beat Sivadharshan Sivaganesan (4/6,7/6,6/2), S. Sivaganesan beat Prasad Jayalath (6/4,7/6), Vibodha Chandrasekara beat Gehan Gunawardane (6/4,6/4), G. Gunawardane beat (6/0,6/3).

Women's singles: Suwini Fernando beat Janaine Rodrigo (6/0,6/0), Navodha Dissanayake beat Dilini Sathkunarajah (6/2,6/3), Ashwini Perera beat Kshanika Ratnayake (4/6,7/5,6/2), Renuka Kurukulasuriya beat Himashi Fernando (6/0,6/1), Manori Liyanage beat Krishanjali Pansalkorale (6/0,6/0), Dinali de Silva beat C. de Alwis (6/1,6/1).
