Normalcy prevails in Mannar

Normalcy has restored in the Matottam, Nanattan, Alawaka, Uyilankulam, Puthukamam, Suriyakatkadu, Sirikandal, Murunkan, Parappkandal and Maligapiddi areas under 215 Brigade in Mannar following a series of flush-out operations against Tiger terrorists who kept on holding farming communities in those areas to ransom.

The Brigade provides security to over 30,000 civilians whose main source of income is farming.

LTTE terrorists had been working day and night to extort money from these civilians until the area was cleared of them in the recent months.

All State agencies, private institutes, schools and transport remain functional and people in the area move about freely in the absence of their pseudo liberators.
