16 killed, 37 injured in Nugegoda blast

At least 16 civilians were confirmed killed and 37 civilians were injured as a suspected parcel bomb placed at a parcel counter of a popular fashion store located at the busy Nugegoda junction exploded in rush hour traffic yesterday at 5.55 p.m.

Bomb Blast in Nugegoda Town

LTTE terrorists have carried out a cowardly bomb attack targeting innocent civilians in Nugegoda this evening (November 28 ).

According to the available information the bomb has been exploded at the Nugegoda Junction around 5.55 p.m. and a bus has caught fire after the attack.

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei reaffirmed to President Mahinda Rajapaksa Iran's continuous support towards Sri Lanka's peace and development endeavours when they met in Tehran yesterday.

Govt's aim to weaken Tigers - Gotabhaya

The Government's aim is to weaken the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa said. "Our objective is to weaken them. We have to defeat them militarily, we have to control Wanni," he told AFP in an interview at the Defence Ministry.
