Mannar schools function without disruption

All schools in Mannar functioned without any disruption yesterday notwithstanding Monday's incident where LTTE mortar fire injured five students and two teachers at Irakkam School in Pulleadi, Mannar SSP Nihal Kudahetti said.

He said all schools recorded full attendance and police have strengthened security in Mannar, Murunthan and schools in the area following Monday's incident.

Meanwhile, the burial of the four farmers killed by LTTE terrorists at Maha Vilachchiya on Monday will be held at State expense at the tract 7 colony at Mannar Junction at 3 p.m. today. The four killed were E. Hemapala, his wife P.S Leelawathie, H.M. Ekanayaka and R.M. Punchibanda, Anuradhapura SSP Macarthy Perera said.

Security has been strengthened in Maha Willachchiya following this killing and co-ordinated search operations are being conducted by the Army and Police.
