No transfers for 183 N-E interns

Transfers will not be given on any ground to any of the 183 intern
doctors appointed to North and East hospitals, Healthcare and Nutrition
Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva said.
Free air tickets will be given to them every three months to visit
their families. Addressing a ceremony at the BMICH yesterday, de Silva
pointed out that the 183 intern doctors appointed to North and East
hospitals are visiting the Ministry with their families and friends to
obtain transfers to other parts of the country.
The Minister pointed out that foreign scholarships will not be
granted to doctors serving in Colombo in the future while 90 per cent of
foreign scholarships will be allocated for doctors serving in the North
and East.
He also extended Ministry support to the East Resurgence Programme.
He handed over 36 vehicles worth Rs. 10 million and Rs. one million
worth medical equipment to Senior Advisor to the President and MP Basil
Rajapaksa during the ceremony. |
