'Abducted' Nepali journalist's family appeals for help

The family of a Nepali journalist allegedly abducted by Maoists nearly a month ago appealed Monday for the former rebels to release him.

Birendra Sah, who worked for a local radio and television station, was abducted in the southern district of Bara on October 5 by local Maoists who wanted to silence the critical journalist, his family said.

"Everyone knows that he was abducted by four Maoists and before his abduction my brother used to receive continuous threats from the Maoists to stop writing news against them and leave the journalism profession," the reporter's brother, Bhaiyaram Sah, told reporters.
