Commission to probe VAT scam

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has appointed Maxwell P. Paranagama, S.M.J. Senaratne and R.K. Herman Michael Fernando as members of the Presidential Commission to inquire into Alleged Fraudulent VAT Refunds of the Department of Inland Revenue.

Retired High Court Judge Paranagama has been appointed Chairman of the Commission while S.M. Samarakoon as Secretary of the Commission.

D. Thotawatte, Senior State Counsel has been appointed by the Attorney General to assist the Commission.
