EPSI partners Dialog to promote ASUS V2 series 3G Notebooks

EPSI Computers (Pvt) Ltd, the sole authorized distributor for ASUS in Sri Lanka, partnered with Dialog Telekom PLC, the largest mobile operator in Sri Lanka with over 4 million subscribers, representing approximately 60 per cent of Sri Lanka's cellular market to promote ASUS V2 Series 3G Notebooks which are now Dialog 3G ready.

Head of Marketing, EPSI Computers, Rukshan Jayawardene, stated that ASUS V2 Series 3G notebooks are one of the pioneering notebook manufacturers, to launch the 3G ready notebook, whereby now users in Sri Lanka can purchase a Dialog 3G SIM card and install it on the rear section of the ASUS V2 series 3G notebook.

He also stated that this technology was introduced for the first time in Sri Lanka, whereby a Dialog 3G SIM can be installed on the ASUS V2 Series 3G Notebook and thus it allows the user to have total connectivity whilst on the move.

He further stated that Dialog Telekom had certified ASUS V2 Series 3G Notebooks as 'Dialog 3G Ready' and was quite happy to partner with Dialog Telekom to launch ASUS V2 Series 3G Notebook. Customer can now visit either the ASUS Centre or the Dialog Future centre to experience the new advancement of Dialog 3G.

Mobitel provides integrated solution to Edna group

Mobitel provides integrated solution to the Edna Group Mobitel; the National Mobile Service Provider is to provide the Edna Group, one of Sri Lanka's largest conglomerates, total mobile voice and SMS communication solutions.

The integrated nature of the mobile telephony with data capability, resulting from the tie up with Mobitel would increase productivity of the Group through cost effective real time communications.

Chairman, Edna Group, B R S T Edirisinghe, commenting on the significance of the tie up said: "Our organisation is always looking for the latest technologies to improve the business performance through the communication and arrange the information to answer what we learnt, why it is important, and what needs to happen next.

There by we selected Mobitel as the group mobile communication service provider due to their excellent customer service, the first priority customersolution, latest technology, convenient package and which belongs to the parent company - SLT. Also we trust this arrangement will definitely fulfill our requirements and bring results."

The solution will help with direct cost saving as well as making operations smoother for the company's 22 subsidiaries. As the mobile arm of SLT, the company would be able to compliment and easily integrate its mobile solutions into voice and data solutions, currently provided by SLT.

This will in turn increase productivity, while minimising costs for not only Edna's current operations but also for in future, when further enhancements and extensions of solutions that are implemented.

CEO of Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel Suren J Amarasekera, said: "We are honoured that we were given the opportunity to provide Edna with total mobile solutions. The agreement signed with Edna will help enhance the productivity of the company through a product enhancement roadmap that guarantees increased productivity while ensuring cost effectiveness.

This will be due to the integration of Mobitel solutions with existing solutions of SLT helping to further enhancing the capabilities of the group." The Edna Group was founded 50 years ago, with diversified business interests in chocolates and confectionary, engineering goods and industrial packaging. The group is engaged in the manufacturing, marketing and trading in these areas of interest.

Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel, the National Mobile Service Provider, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sri Lanka Telecom. In January 2004, the company launched its fully-fledged GSM network that is EDGE/GPRS enabled and designed to operate on dual bands.


Singer's choice is SLT

Sri Lanka Telecom has been chosen by Singer Sri Lanka to seamlessly interconnect Singer offices, retail outlets, mega shops and service centres present in every town and city across the country.

According to the recently signed agreement, SLT will provide a managed service platform that caters to video, voice and business critical information between Singer locations. The solution engineered by SLT will employ state of the art IP-VPN technology to bring the activities of more than 300 Singer business locations within a single virtual realm.

Speaking on the agreement CEO of Singer Sri Lanka Hemaka Amarasuriya, said "SLT has the widest network in the country with regard to telecommunication and is also the largest operator.

They have long experience and are technologically superior hence we decided that they would be able to offer us the best solution possible as we move into an era of Seamless connectivity".

Expressing his views of said CEO of SLT Shoji Takahashi, "This agreement showcases the important role of the communication technology plays in enhancing the business capabilities of Singer to serve their customers more effectively through SLT network. As a leading retail company, we are happy to see Singer is focused on innovation and using technology to gain a competitive advantage in adding value to their customers".

The solution offered by SLT helps Singer Sri Lanka accrue direct cost savings through inter-branch data communication via the corporate network. Smoother operations and timely well informed decision making is aided by secure access to information from anywhere, at anytime.

Also the need to commute between offices will reduce as on-line meetings and video conferences take precedence.

These are advantages clearly important to every business at a time when controlling escalating costs and overheads are among the key challenges managers need to address.
