Six Tigers killed

VAVUNIYA: Six LTTE cadres were killed and a dozen injured in a
continuing mortar and artillery attack with the Security Forces when a
group of Tigers attempted to breach the West of Omanthai Forward Defence
Lines on Wednesday. The Security Forces successfully repulsed the
attack, the Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) said.
A sporadic attack was launched by LTTE cadres attempting to
infiltrate the West of Omanthai FDL’s since early Wednesday morning.
“The Security Forces in the Vilachchikulam, Periyathampanai,
Pokkarvani and Navathkulam areas in the West of Omanthai successfully
confronted the LTTE small arms, mortar and artillery attacks killing six
Tiger cadres and injuring dozens, a MCNS spokesman said.
The spokesman said LTTE cadres who attempted to advance to the west
of Omanthai FDL’s withdrew from the area on the face of retaliatory
attack by Security Forces.
Three soldiers were killed and five others injured in the incident.
The injured soldiers were admitted to the Anuradhapura hospital.
