DEHIWALA: A very rare albino deer found at a house at Kibulawala and taken to the National Zoological Gardens by Kawudulla Forest Reserve wildlife officers died on World Animals’ Day which was on Wednesday.

Employees of the zoo said the animal had died as it had not been provided proper facilities.

“There is a collapse in the Zoo administration. Maintenance and animal care do not receive proper attention,” they said.

Acting Director of the Zoo Herath Dissanayake said the environment of the zoo is not congenial to the animal as it had got used to the forest.

This situation might have caused the death, he said.
