SCOPP, SLMM discuss East situation

COLOMBO: The Secretariat for Coordinating the Peace Process (SCOPP) and the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) which held their regular weekly meeting on Thursday, discussed the recent visit of the Icelandic Diplomat to Kilinochchi.

The SCOPP suggested that SLMM be even more explanatory and detailed in their weekly monitoring reports reflecting the situation on the ground. The SCOPP and the SLMM discussed the situation in the East.

The Secretary General said encouraging paramilitary forces in the region to integrate into civil society by participating in the democratic process is a step in the right direction.

SCOPP emphasised the importance of LTTE’s participation in LMC meetings.
