Lotus introduces new innovations
It has been estimated that there will be 1.6 billion internet users

He said that in 2006 there were 1.1 billion internet users and in
1996 it was 45 million. However certain reports revealed that workers
spend long hours reading, analysing, searching information and replying
for emails.
“Nearly 58 per cent of the IT executives consider their companies to
be virtual and 90 per cent of employees are out in locations other than
headquarters of their organisations. In today’s business world
connectivity and collaboration play a vital role,” he said.
“IBM Lotus software provides innovative technology and tools to
facilitate this important business requirement, which is a key to
success”, he added.
The Lotus collaboration summit was held in Sri Lanka to introduce
these tools to the local market. This event was organized by EWIS (E-W
Information Systems Ltd) premier ICT solutions provider, which is the
first ever IBM business partner in Sri Lanka, and has provided Lotus
solutions for over ten years in Sri Lanka.
Business Unit Executive - IBM Lotus Software, IBM Software Group,
India- South Asia Region Chetan A Yardi also made a presentation at the
summit.
Assistant General Manager of EWIS ICT Infrastructure Solutions Nirmal
Pieris said that it was indeed a great pleasure to organize this summit.
This signified the successful longstanding partnership EWIS maintained
with IBM for well over (22) years.

accomplished solutions provider in the market where Lotus serves as one
of its most successful collaborative platforms.
Top IT professionals from various public sector and private sector
institutions took part in this summit to experience new Lotus
innovations introduced by a panel of expert speakers from IBM.
