Americares helps improve NTSs

COLOMBO: Americares International, an American Non Governmental Organisation will provide Rs.400 million worth medical equipment to develop facilities of Nurses Training Schools (NTS) in Sri Lanka, a Health Ministry spokesman said.

He said the aid will be for the development of 19 NTSs which provide nursing education for over 11,000 trainees.

Each NTS will receive medical equipment valued at Rs. 20 million under this project.

Healthcare and Nutrition Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva lauded their services during the tsunami.

Americares International Sri Lankan Branch Directress Hilmie Lisa said the organisation and the Americans will always be ready to extend their fullest support towards Sri Lankan health sector and Health education. Programme Director, Senaid Waine was also present.
