Services not improved at Kandy Hospital, alleges GMOA
COLOMBO: The GMOA has expressed concern about the alleged failure on
the part of the health Ministry to implement its recommendations for the
improvement of patient care services at the Kandy General Hospital.
The GMOA in a release said the Ministry has failed to expedite work
on an accident service unit at the hospital despite the President having
expressed interest on the matter.
The release said the Ministry’s failure to fill vacancies of
consultants at the Kandy and Peradeniya Hospitals as well as the
Peradeniya Sirimavo Bandaranaike Children’s Hospital has deprived the
people of Kandy of many specialised services.
The release said the GMOA would be compelled to direct its membership
at the Kandy and Peradeniya Hospitals towards trade union action unless
the Ministry takes urgent action to improve the services at these two
hospitals.
