SLTB Chairman Tudor Dayaratne said the net income of the Board has recorded a Rs 47,158,477 rise last month in comparison to the previous months.

“The increase in the turn over is mainly attributable to the operations carried out by the SLTB flying squads on bus crew and commuters engaged in various malpracticer,” he said.

According to the Board, 193 SLTB employees were found guilty of serious malpractice by the flying squads in August.

The highest amount of fines for such malpracticer were collected by the Rajarata SLTB office. Rs 264,192 have also been charged from ticketless travellers in August mainly by the Kalutara, Ruhuna and Uva SLTB offices.
