HYBT marks tenth year

The tenth anniversary of HYBT was held recently. The Hambantota Youth
Business Trust based on the unique concept of the Prince’s trust UK
founded by the Prince of Wales was launched in Hambantota district in
1997 under the patronage of Hambantota district Chamber of Commerce.
It aims to enable disadvantaged, under privileged unemployed and
under employed youth between the age of 18 to 35 to start and improve
their own viable and innovative businesses.
Loans such as start up loans, primary expansion loans, secondary
expansion loans ranging from US Dollars 95 to US Dollars 943 are
provided by the trust for the eligible youth.
HYBT has now expanded its activities to the national level.
Grand opportunity for young entrepreneurs

official of the The Small Enterprises Development section in the
Ministry of Youth Affairs invites youth to contact them because the
section had taken a series of steps to support them. Details could be
obtained from the Ministry.
The small entrepreneurs development initiative was launched by the
ministry for youth affairs in August from the Ratnapura New Town.
Bingiriya student savings scheme
Bingiriya corr.
With a view to persuading school children of rural areas towards
savings money for their future, a new unit of savings was set up at Kuli/Koswatta
Gamini MV in the Bingiriya electorate by the Bingiriya Branch of the
People’s Bank recently.
The principal of the school handed over the money collected from
students to be deposited in their savings accounts to N. Thilakaratne,
Branch Manager of the Bingiriya, People’s Bank Branch.
In addition the students were also rewarded with new hats and
umbrellas by the People’s Bank.
Amana Sponsors FACETS
Amana Takaful sponsored FACETS for the fourth time. Amana Takaful
Insurance, known to many as Sri Lanka’s most rewarding concept of
insurance has once again teamed up with Facets 2007, Sri Lanka’s premier
Gem and Jewllery Exhibition as one of the official sponsors.
‘Facets Sri Lanka 2007’ exhibition took centre stage in the Asian Gem
and Jewellery market held on the at the BMICH.
The exhibition showcased Sri Lanka’s beauty and rarity of her
magnificent gemstones.
CCC workshops
The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce will organise two back-to-back
Seminars on September 17 and 18 at King’s Court, Trans Asia.
Both seminars will be based on case studies, ICC material and
publications.
The two seminars are designed for beginners and experienced
practitioners. Monday, September 17 will be on “Incoterms 2000 - Best
Practices.” Tuesday, September 18, will be on “Payment methods in
international trade - How to get paid”.
The seminar will be conducted by Pavel Andrle, Member of UCP 600
Revision Consulting Group and Documentary Payments Specialist. H.Q.,
Volksbank CZ, a.s., Prague, Czech Republic.
Pavel is also the Secretary to the Banking Commission. ICC CR,
Prague, Czech Republic, which he regularly represents at the ICC Banking
Commission meetings.
