Colombo Book Fair begins...

The large crowds that gathered at the Colombo book fair proved that ‘Reading maketh a man’ is still applicable in spite of the advancement of computers and television.

Colombo International Book Fair commenced last Saturday attracting thousands of book lovers to the BMICH premises. Schoolchildren were seen strolling the corridors with their parents purchasing books compiled on their syllabus.

Teachers, university students and academics also took time off their busy schedules to have a walk in the book world.

There are 350 stalls comprising 152 local and 43 foreign exhibitors at this year’s fair. It is the largest annual public exhibition in Sri Lanka and is open to the public from 9.30 a.m. to 9 p.m. till September 16. We feature some of the scenes at the Book Fair.
