Management Tips

How to motivate your people to be productive?

Productivity is said to be the “State of mind”. It is also defined as a “Way of work”. If you can tune the mind of your people to “think about productivity and speak about productivity”, productivity awareness among your people can be enhanced.

In short, productivity awareness can be cultivated in the minds of your people. Productivity concepts can be made as a way of accepted organisational culture in your organisation.

In several organisations, especially in the free trade zone, productivity awareness is implanted into the minds of the people through the ‘productivity pledge’.

Productivity pledge

The entire workforce of as organisation assemble together as the first activity in the morning. They take a pledge by repeating given pledges or commands. Each pledge is repeated three or four times. This way of collective resolution, repeated every day as the first activity, in an organisation, enables the productivity concept easily implanted in the minds of all the people.

The following pledge is taken in jointly by all the employees at an

organisation in the free trade zone.

1. I will be very steady, smart and systematic today!

2. I will enjoy and rejoice at my performance today!

3. I will be very effective, efficient and excellent today!

4. I will be appreciated and admired for my excellent contribution today!

5. I will think positively, speak positively and work positively today!

6. I will be very happy, healthy and strong today!

7. I will work with “can do”, “will do”, “shall do” and “yes” attitude today!

8. I will be very positive, productive and perfect in every aspect of work today!

9. I will generate positive emotions and remain cool, calm, confident and enthusiastic today!

10. I am very loyal to my company and will discharge my functions effectively and efficiently. The above pledge is only a model. It can be modified to suit the nature of business of your organisation.
