Murali in line for Test Player of the year Award

CRICKET: Sri Lanka's Muttiah Muralitharan was short listed for the Test Player of the year award in the ICC Awards 2007 which will take place on September 10 at the Sandton Convention Centre, Sandton, Johannesburg.

The other nominees for this award are Kevin Pietersen (England), Ricky Ponting (Australia) and Mohammad Yousuf (Pakistan).

In addition Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardena and his Australian counterpart Ricky Ponting are the sole nominees for the Captain Of the Year award.

Meanwhile the teams short listed for the Spirit of Cricket Award are Australia, Ireland, New Zealand and Sri Lanka.
