SLFP rally in Galle today

COLOMBO: The Mahajana rally organised by the SLFP to update and inform the masses of the current political trends and situation in the country, will be held in Galle today, with President Mahinda Rajapaksa presiding.

This rally in Galle would be the third in a series of rallies to be held islandwide. The first in Nawalapitiya was followed by the rally in Kurunegala, in which mammoth crowds participated.

The SLFP Assistant Secretary, Galle District Parliamentarian and Minister Piyasena Gamage who will be organising the rally in Galle today said that over 100,000 people are expected to attend the rally.

Gamage said an attempt by the Opposition to overthrow a democratically appointed and a legally elected government would only be a dream. "We possess the capability and the strength to win the elections which would be held at the proper time at the end of our term," he added.
