The company handles sales of a wide range of products including gift items, furniture, linen, kitchenware and home electronics. Manageress Razmani Senanayake said, "We have expanded the scope of items in the last two and half years. But most importantly we have brought a new concept into home living style.

Dwellings caters to customers from all income groups, and we pride ourselves in the fact that we give value for money." Locally manufactured products from all parts of the island amounts to 60 per cent of items sold at Dwellings.

" We have a large supplier base of around 100.", she said. The company plays an active role in encouraging local handicraft manufacturers, who are the main suppliers.

Through several handicraft and furniture exhibitions held at the outlet in Green Path, Colombo 7, rural entrepreneurs have been provided with the opportunity to use Dwellings as a platform from which to launch their products. Dwellings also purchases items produced by NGO's, tsunami victims and self employed ladies.

"We also run a wedding registry which has become very popular in recent times." Senanayake said.

To commemorate 1000 days Dwellings is on a special promotional period beginning from Wednesday (5th) to Sunday (9th). Customers are given free gift bags, a 30 per cent discount on selected items and raffle draws from which return air tickets, star cruises, holidays at leading hotels, diamond earrings, iPods and a range of other Dwellings brands could be won.

Speaking about plans for the future, Razmani Senanayake said that the outlet is to be expanded within the existing premises.
