Family arrives in Trinco after fleeing LTTE

TRINCOMALEE: Five members of the same family who fled from the clutches of the LTTE in the uncleared area of Puthukudiyiruppu arrived in Trincomalee early last morning.

The family revealed that the LTTE was engaged in large scale forced conscription of Tamil youth, military sources said.

According to the sources, sailors in a Navy patrol craft in the Eastern seas detected a boat at around 2 am yesterday and directed it to a hangar towards Alex Garden in Trincomalee.

“A family of five including the parents, a son, 21 and two daughters aged 14 and 17 were in the boat. They were from the uncleared area of Mandalam in Puthikudiyiruppu”, he added.
