Bikkhu Rest for sacred city
ANURADHAPURA: A new “Bikkhus’ Rest is to be constructed close to the
historic Ruwanveli Maha Cetiya in the sacred city of Anuradhapura at a
cast of Rs. 20 million.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa patronises the project, which will be of
immense help to the large number of Bikkhus who visit the sacred area
for religious purposes, annually.
The building complex will have lodging facilities, an alms hall,
reading and library facilities and places for meditation. Philanthropist
H.K. Dharmadasa, the Chairman of “Nawaloka Group” has donated Rs. 50,000
to commence work. It is expected to finish construction by the next
Poson festival.
