The Welioya Irrigation Project which will benefit 5,000 farmer families and help asweddumize 3,000 acres of fallow land during both seasons contributing an income of Rs. 76 million to the GNP is to be completed soon.

Fiscal prudence needs to continue - Deutsche Bank Chief Economist

Gross Domestic Product growth in Sri Lanka has been resilient, Chief Economist Deutsche Bank Group and Managing Director Deutsche Bank Research, Prof. Norbert Walter said at a media presentation on Friday. Speaking on the topic `World Economic Cycle matured- financial markets nervous?' he predicted the growth rate will be higher next year.
