Emergency Fire Unit at CMC

COLOMBO: A special Emergency Fire and Disaster Unit comprising overseas trained fire officers has been established at the Colombo Municipal Council.

The selection of these officers were made from Municipalities islandwide.

The main task of the project is to mobilise manpower at times of a disaster. These officers received training in Germany and the Netherlands.

The second batch consisting of 17 Fire Officers will be leaving for Germany and the Netherlands in September.

The Provincial Council and Local Government Ministry expects to recruit another 25 Fire Officers from 18 Local Government bodies for this training.
