SLT provides IP-VPN solution to Lanka Ashok Leyland

AGREEMENT: Sri Lanka Telecom, the nation’s number one communication service provider signed an agreement to provide state-of-the-art IP-VPN (Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network) solution to Lanka Ashok Leyland, a leading importer and retailer of commercial vehicles and spare parts, as well as operating a service stations for vehicles.

The IP-VPN Solution, which is capable of carrying voice and mission critical data securely and reliably, connects five branches of the Lanka Ashok Leyland, to its head office. In addition SLT provided a comprehensive solution for the voice communication at Lanka Ashok Leyland Head Office.

The investment in the new solution of IP - VPN would allow the five-branch network of the company to have access to a centralised IT network and resources at any given time. This enables them to communicate with the head office and each other for business and other data communication.

The network will be flexible and scalable to suit Lanka Ashok Leyland’s future expansion needs when they arise. It also means that even as the number of branches increases, the additional investment required to make offices in remote areas accessible in terms of communication is minimal.

The agreement is projected to cut down costs of inter branch communication and increase productivity resulting from cost effective real time communication. Direct cost saving, making operations smoother, enhancing the capabilities of the customer as well as offering a wide variety of products and services are among the benefits the Group is entitled to.

The reputation SLT has built over the years with reliability and quality of service and customised solutions based on the client’s requirement are the reasons for Lanka Ashok Leyland to sign the agreement.

Lanka Ashok Leyland, is a joint venture between the Lanka Leyland and the Indian Ashok Leyland.

Sri Lanka Telecom (www.slt.lk) is one of the country’s most valuable blue chip companies with an annual turnover in excess of Rs. 40 billion. The SLT Group has a customer base of over two million including multinational corporations, large and small corporate, retail and domestic customers.
