Power from sugar cane plan for Sevanagala Sugar
Sevanagala Sugar Industries Ltd. (SSIL) will be
investing Rs. 1.2 billion to put up an electricity generating plant
at the factory. Chairman and Managing Director, Daya Apparel Export
who has purchased 90 per cent of the company, hopes to produce
around 2.5 MW of electricity. “This would be generated from using
the waste of the sugar cane,” he said.

Four hundred computers per day from Panora
Panora branded computers have opened a
mass-manufacturing unit at Mattakkuliya with a manufacturing
capacity of 12000 pieces per month. That is 400 computers per day in
24 hour labour hours, Head of Marketing, Panora Corporation, Rizwan
Anise said. The company’s present marketing capacity is 10000 pieces
per month.
