Four hundred computers per day from Panora

NEW VENTURE: Panora branded computers have opened a
mass-manufacturing unit at Mattakkuliya with a manufacturing capacity of
12000 pieces per month. That is 400 computers per day in 24 hour labour
hours, Head of Marketing, Panora Corporation, Rizwan Anise said. The
company’s present marketing capacity is 10000 pieces per month.
This will be achieved on a three shift based labour consumption of
100 skilled employees. ‘We are planning to achieve the total
manufacturing target in three months’, he said.
Panora is a brand built in Sri Lanka with local expertise. We import
the accessories from Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and we use
local skills to manufacture our brand.
Through this we can provide a quality branded product to the market
on an economical cost. That’s why we have already tapped 45 per cent, of
the existing hardware market that is the desktop PC market of Sri Lanka
in a short period of time.
Our expertise enhances us to omit the unnecessary overhead costs for
the advantage of Sri Lanka consumers, Chairman, Panora Corporation, S.
H. M. Rishan said.
There are guidelines to be followed by a company to build a brand
name. We have obtained various standard certificates apart from that.
ISO9001, ISO 2000, ISO 14001 for environment, certificate of energy star
and Microsoft certificate are the standard certificates we have already
acquired, Rizwan said.
Panora has already entered the global market by having channel
partners in Maldives and Bangladesh. It’s also planning to identify
another seven global channels in a short period of time. This will
enhance a foreign exchange inflow to the country, he said.
Sampath Bank, Commercial Bank, Ceylinco Group and HNB Assurance are
some of the corporate companies Panora serves. There are some public
sector organisations and some individuals are also included in its total
market, Rishan said.
