Ceremony in memory of DS
COLOMBO: The 55th death anniversary of Sri Lanka’s first Prime
Minister D. S. Senanayake falls today.
The D. S. Senanayake Memorial Society has organised a memorial
ceremony at the Independence Square at 8.30 a.m. with the participation
of UNP and Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and Speaker W. J. M.
Lokubandara.
The Speaker will lay wreaths at the statue and Colombo Mayor Imthiaz
Mohamed will garland the statue.

Lake House ex-staffer dies
COLOMBO: D.F. Kern, 70, retired English Proof Reader (Editorial
Department) expired. Before joining ANCL, he was attached to the Times
of Ceylon. He retired in 2000, after serving nearly 20 years at the
ANCL.He leaves behind two sons Christopher and Desmond. His wife May
predeceased last year.
His remains lie at the Jayarathna Funeral Parlour, Borella and
interment will take place at General Cemetery Kanatte at 4.30 p.m.
today.
