CNCI Achievers Awards on July 6

AWARDS:The Ceylon National Chamber of Industries (CNCI), the Industrial Chamber in a bid to recognise and reward excellence in the country’s industrial entrepreneurship in both manufacturing and service sectors will hold the CNCI Achievers Awards for the sixth consecutive year on July six at the Grand Ballroom, Hilton Hotel, Colombo. The media sponsor for the event is Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited.

This event which was launched by CNCI six years ago to promote industrial growth in the country is unique not only among the Chambers but also for Sri Lanka because it recognises Industrialists especially those who have excelled in the manufacturing sector in enhancing the quality standards, productivity, employee benefits, labour relations, adherence to statutory requirements. CNCI extends this competition to the SAARC Regional countries as well.

Chairman of CNCI A.K. Ratnarajah said the participation is open to any sole proprietorship, partnership or limited liability company engaged in a manufacturing or specified service industry for at least three consecutive financial years ending either March 31, 2006 or December 31, 2006 in Sri Lanka or in any Sri Lankan industry operating in a SAARC regional country.

He added that there will be special SAARC regional country awards presented to an outstanding industry and business, which has achieved industrial excellence as nominated by the respective Chambers of each of the SAARC countries. Another unique feature of this event is that it recognises those industrialists who have ventured into SAARC areas and set up industry of their own or have 50% or more share holding in such enterprises.

Winners would be selected in five categories, Extra large, Large, Medium, Small and Micro, and the participants could vie for honours at Provincial Level as well as at National Level. This year CNCI has added extra large category to encourage mega industries in the country to participate in the contest. Each category will be awarded Gold, Silver, Bronze trophies and two merit plaques.

Awards Categories are Sri Lankan National Award - Five categories - Extra Large, Large, Medium, Small and Micro. For each category there will be a Gold, Silver, Bronze and two Merit Awards.

Provincial Award - Three categories - Medium, Small and Micro. For each category there will be a Gold, Silver, Bronze and two Merit Awards. Outstanding entry for the “Provincial Award” will also be considered for the “Sri Lankan National Award”.
