President orders facilities for Batticaloa displaced

COLOMBO: President Mahinda Rajapaksa instructed the District Secretary of Batticaloa District yesterday to find out the needs of the displaced persons in the District and take steps to resettle them expeditiously.

The President paid immediate attention to the newspaper reports of yesterday, relating to the displaced people in Batticaloa District and made immediate inquiries from the District Secretary.

The President called for detailed reports on the problems faced by displaced and accurate information regarding the situation.

People who vacated their habitats in the Vakarai area have now been resettled in their respective places and the Government is incessantly alert about their problems.
