Ten stickers from Vijaya in Sri Lanka Schools hockey squad

HOCKEY: Ten players from Vijaya College, Matale have been selected for the Sri Lanka Schools Hockey squad in preparation for the 34th Junior National Hockey Championship which is to be worked off in Badulla from November 23 to 26. The selection trials were held in Matale over the week-end.

The stickers who took part at the 39th Inter District under 19 schools Hockey championship held in Colombo last month were seen in action at the trials.

The squad is made up with two teams Gold and Maroon, each team comprises 18 players.

Milan Prasad Ariyawansa of Vijaya College will lead the Gold side, others are Subramanium Krishanthan (Trinity College), Milina Nuwan Kumara Bandaranayake (Vijaya College), Dushan Milinda Sapugasgodage (Vijaya College), V.V.Raj Mohan (Trinity College), Lahiru Gihan Weerasooriya (Christ Church College), Shantha de Mel (Vijaya College), Vijitha Ekanayake (Nalanda College), Malith Pitigala (Ananda College), Nuwan Dhanushka Warnakulasooriya (Vijaya College), Geemal Sandeepa Dias (Ananda College), Prasanna Dissanayake (Christ Church College), C.Nanda Lochana (Christ Church College), Nuwan Darshana Prematilake (Vijaya College), Kanishka Vidyatilake (Trinity College), Sachith Dilshan (St.Thomas College, Matara), Janitha Isuru Vitharanage (Trinity College) and H.A.D.P.Udayanga (Bandaranaike Vidyalaya, Gampaha).

Maroon team will be led by Gihan Heendeniya of St.Thomas College, Matale, other players are Kasun Welarathne (Ananda College), Manoj Deepal Ratnayake (Vijaya College), Danushka Perera (Nalanda College), Kalana Madushan Ananda (Vijaya College), M.S.M.Sherifdeen (Zahira College, Matale), S.S.Priyalanka (St.Thomas College, Matara), Pubudu Saranga (Nalanda College), Vipula Kosta (Maris Stella College, Negombo), Kasun Jayampathi Dunuweera (Vijaya College), Dilan Niroshan (Nalanda College), Chandana Ranatunga (Christ Church College), B.Gamunu Priyadharshana (Vijaya College), Tharaka Madushan (Maris Stela College), Lahiru Ruwan (Dharmadutha Vidyalaya, Badulla), Chaminda Priyankara (Bandaranaike Vidyalaya), Damith Mendis (Maris Stella College) and Akila Ekanayake (Christ Church College).

Meanwhile, the Girls selection trials are scheduled to be held on November 18 in Matale.
