Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka along with several Senior Officers flew to Welioya and Vavuniya on Saturday (11) to review the security situation of those areas. The Army Commander was received, on his arrival at Welioya, by Commander Security Forces Wanni (SF-W) Major General W.U.B. Edirisinghe. He was briefed about the security situation in the area by Area Commander Welioya Major General N.A. Jayasooriya at the Area Headquarters. Later, Lt. Gen. Sarath Fonseka went to Vavuniya Security Forces Headquarters - Wanni to address Divisional and Brigade Commanders in Wanni. Commander gave instructions to Ground Commanders on future contingency arrangements to face any LTTE threat.
