SLTB moots full-time Tourist Police Unit

For the first time Sri Lanka Tourist Board will set up a Tourist Police Unit at their premises and it would be manned round the clock. Tourism Minister Anura Bandaranaike said through this unit the Tourist Police system which is now not functioning properly would be streamlined in a bid to provide a better service to the industry.

Boom in NRFC account openings

State Banks say there is a huge interest among migrant workers in opening NRFC accounts. Assistant Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka Y.M.W.B. Weerasekera told Daily News a recent meeting that he had with the representatives of the State banks revealed that there is a sharp increase in opening of new NRFC accounts.
