India, Pakistan swap barbs over tribal chief's killing
India said Monday that Pakistan's killing of a
tribal insurgency leader was a "tragic loss," comments that drew the
ire of its neighbour and arch-rival. Nawab Akbar Bugti, who had led
an armed struggle in Baluchistan province against the Pakistani
government, was killed by the army on Saturday.

Annan: Israel should end blockade, Hizbollah free soldiers
UN Secretary General Kofi Annan called in Beirut
for Israel to lift its blockade of Lebanon and for Hizbollah to free
two captured Israeli soldiers. Annan called on Israel to "lift the
blockade" and on Hizbollah to hand over the two soldiers to the
International Committee of the Red Cross or to Lebanese authorities.
