LTTE shells lorries carrying essentials
In total disregard of the plight of innocent
civilians trapped in uncleared areas in Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu,
the LTTE yesterday fired a mortar barrage towards a convoy of 11
lorries carrying 120 tonnes of essential food items to the uncleared
areas.

Troops inflicted heavy damage on LTTE positions
in Sampur and Echchalampattu as fierce fighting erupted yesterday
too in the area as the LTTE continued to fire mortar and artillery
towards troops engaged in search and clear operations in Selvanagar
and Thoppur to neutralise security threats on civilians returning to
Muttur.

Ensuring security for Trincomalee harbour vital - Army Commander

yesterday told the Ambassador for Finland Asko Numminen that it was
vital for the Security Forces to ensure that the Trincomalee Harbour
is intact as it is the central point to transport troops and
