Government rejects military option
President Mahinda Rajapaksa's vision is for a maximum
devolution of power in an undivided Sri Lanka, the Government asserted
yesterday. "The Government is of the firm conviction that solutions to
the issues at hand have to be sought only through political means and
not through military means," a Government statement issued soon after
the EU proclamation on the LTTE said yesterday.

JVP condemns LTTE killing of 12 civilians
The JVP has vehemently condemned the killing of 12
civilians engaged in road construction work in Omidiyamadu, Welikanda
yesterday and said it clearly proved that the LTTE is engaged in an
ethnic cleansing campaign in the North while appearing as the saviours
of Tamils.
