Govt refutes LTTE claim of sovereignty
The Government said its attention has been drawn
to a news item on Tamilnet of May 12 headlined, 'SLMM has no mandate
to rule on Tamil sovereign rights' in which LTTE Political Wing
Leader S.P. Thamil Chelvam is quoted as stating; "We entered into
the peace process based on the status quo achieved in the
battlefield in our country.

Peace talks still on despite latest attack - Keheliya
COLOMBO: The Government has not wavered from its
earlier commitment to see peace talks resume, despite the LTTE's
aborted attempt to attack the troop carrier Pearl Cruise II, Defence
Affairs Spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella said yesterday.

LTTE using anti-personnel mines again
An Anti-Personnel Mine has been used by the LTTE in Trincomalee for
the first time since the CFA was signed in 2002. A soldier on road duty
near Allers Garden in Trincomalee was seriously injured when the
Anti-Personnel Mine exploded.
