Police to get tough on propaganda displays:

Cut-outs out after Nominations Day

THE display of all candidates' posters, banners, billboards, cut-outs and propaganda material in public places will be taboo from October 6 midnight, the eve of nominations day for the November 17 Presidential Poll, the Police Elections Secretariat declared yesterday.

THE ICC World XI escaped an embarrassing loss despite registering a 12-run win against a Victoria XI in a practice game played at the Junction Oval here today. Sri Lanka's wicket-keeper batsman Kumar Sangakkara fared well with the bat and gloves while spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan bowled below expectations as the World XI were dealt a scare by the probable state side.
